It is good to know that Senggigi and Kuta are the main tourist hubs of Lombok and many established resorts and hotels are found here. Kuta is more popular these days due to its surfing opportunities however Senggigi is still totally worth a visit!
Below are the six main areas that I personally recommend staying at when visiting Lombok. Each offers unique and unbeatable adventures and a different vibe, depending on your travel style.
- Kuta - A chilled-out town on the South Coast filled with epic beaches and those who love to surf.
- Senggigi - Known as the main tourist town with its turquoise white sand beaches and a large range of beautiful resorts and private villas.
- Sekotong - An off-the-beaten-path area known for its excellent snorkeling and scuba diving locations with secluded nearby small islands.
- Sembulan - A small village renowned for its breathtaking views and is the gateway to the Mount Rinjani treks.
- Senaru - Located in the north of Lombok this area is another gateway to the Rinjani Volcano trekking and offers magical waterfalls such as Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep.
- Tetebatu - A quiet village known for its picturesque rice and strawberry fields, waterfalls, and monkey forests.

It is a great choice for those looking to spend more money on comfort and to be away from the hustle of hotel crowds. Located in a quiet area just a 1 km walk from the main area of Kuta and 1.8 km from Kuta Beach.
I highly recommend checking out the Loka Lombok which is located next door that offers a gym, cold plunge, and delicious healthy meals.

Are you seeking relaxation under the palm trees on a private beach or beside a pool with its very own bar? The Pullman Lombok offers just that!
With 257 spacious rooms that have spectacular sea views, air-conditioning, and even a private pool it's no wonder it has over 800 5-star reviews on Google.
it's a great choice for families and those traveling with children as there is a kids club that will allow you to have some kid-free time at the on-site spa.
3. Martas Windows
Boasting authentic Indonesian bungalow villa-style rooms that overlook a tropical outdoor area with a large outdoor pool. This is an Instagrammer's dream place to stay as the photo opportunities are endless.
The rooms are large and the outdoor spaces are the perfect place to relax as there are many day beds available.
Located in the heart of Kuta it allows you to explore the area on foot. I recommend walking 300 m to the Cozy House which has the best pancakes and acai bowls.
4. Rascals Hotel - Adults Only
This 3-star hotel with over 1,400 high-rated reviews features an outdoor swimming pool, restaurant, and calm terrace, and lush gardens.
It offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere being an adult-only hotel which is great for those looking for a child-free space.
Rascals Hotel is only 1.5 km from Kuta Beach and a 6-minute walk to some of the best pizza you could taste at Mama Pizza Kuta Lombok.
If you're looking for an adventure I suggest renting a bike and taking a day trip to Pink Beach for the day.
5. LoTide Surf Camp
With its low-cost dorm-style rooms and relaxing outdoor swimming pool it is great for those looking to save on accommodation.
I found this to be a great choice for those traveling solo as the atmosphere was great for meeting people and a top choice for those looking to surf as most people staying here went surfing each day.

It is a short 10-minute drive to Malimbu Hill which I highly recommend visiting for sunset along with Magsit Beach.
Sekotong- Off-The-Beaten-Path Accommodation in Lombok
Sekotong is a slice of heaven hidden away from the rest of the bustling side of Lombok and it really shouldn't be missed. There are some epic things to do in Sekotong such as scuba diving, snorkeling and exploring Mekaki Beach.
To save money on transport, I’d recommend staying in this largely unexplored part of Lombok Indonesia for a couple of nights to check out all the best things to do.

I recommend taking a trip to Gili Nanggu which is a small island or the surrounding Secret Gili Islands when staying here.

The location is hard to beat with impeccable views over the surrounding rice fields.
This 3-star hotel features triangular modern rooms with BBQ facilities and an included breakfast. It is perfect for couples wanting to relax away from the bustling center.
It is a short 8-minute drive to Bukit Selong and local strawberry farms.
13. Radiya Guesthouse
I loved my time at Radiya Guesthouse due to its hospitality and calm atmosphere.
This is one of the best-value accommodation options in Sembalun. The rooms are small but very clean and have everything you need. There’s unlimited free coffee and tea, as well as a free breakfast included.
I recommend Mangku Sakti Waterfall which is a 25-minute drive from the property is is a must-visit along with Pergasingan Hill if you're looking for some adventurous activities.
14. Sembalun Kita Cottage
Set among the mountains the Sembulan Kita Cottage offers its guests incredible views from its rooms, hot water, free breakfasts, and hammocks for relaxing.
The most unique part of staying here is the option of sleeping in a 100-year-old traditional Indonesian house.

Senaru - Where to Stay in Lombok for Rinjani Trekking
Senaru is a well-known location to stay before starting the Rinjani Trek.
Located high in the mountains Senaru boasts unbelievable views over the surrounding landscapes and is tucked away from the larger crowds that you might find at Kuta.
You’ll find some of the best waterfalls in this region, including Tiu Teja, and Sendang Gile waterfalls.

It is located within the lush forests of Senaru and a short distance from Sendand Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls.
The rooms are traditionally styled bungalows with mosquito nets, warm showers, and seating areas. The noise here is minimal and it offers a great place to relax and unwind after trekking Mount Rinjani.
If you're looking for a place to watch the sunset I recommend the Rooftop Sunset Bar Villa Bambu which is a short 400 m walk away.
17. Dragonfly Senaru Lodge
It's no wonder it got the name Dragonfly Lodge as you'll understand when you arrive just how many dragonflies are seen in the gardens.
The accommodation offers breathtaking views over the surrounding landscapes and Rinjani Volcano. It is 1 km from the surrounding Sendand Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls. And has its own on-site restaurant.
It's a great value choice for those looking to save money.
Tetebatu - Where to Stay in Lombok Amongst Ricefields
The traditional village of Tetebatu is a great place to stay in Lombok if you are looking for a relaxing, village life full of greenery and away from the crowds.
It is home to many waterfalls, my personal favorite being Benang Stokel due to its lush green rainforest walls.

18. Les Rizieres
Within walking distance of Tetebatu town the Les Rizieres offers comfortable accommodation with spectacular rice terrace views & a relaxing atmosphere.
The hosts are friendly and the crepes served with passionfruit are a must-try for breakfast!
It is located a short 10-minute drive from the must-visit Tetebatu Waterfall which is the ideal spot to cool off on a hot day.
19. Al Sasaki
Surrounded by rice fields the Al Sasaki is an affordable accommodation option for those on a tighter budget.
Bicycle hire is available here which makes it easy to explore the nearby waterfalls and Tetebatu Monkey Forest.
Ronni and his family who run AI Sasaki are extremely accommodating and love showing others the way of life in Tetebatu. They love to share their local recipes and how the food is prepared so don't be shy to ask or get involved with the local culture!
20. Vanilla Garden
The perfect low-budget bungalow pick in Tetebatu is situated in the middle of rice fields and surrounded by coconut trees and it offers a free continental breakfast!
Vanilla Garden boasts fantastic views of the surrounding area and the impressive active volcano Mount Rinjani. It is a 20-minute walk to local eateries however this is worth the walk as it is amongst nature and extremely peaceful. Or you might opt to hire a bike from the property.
The rooms are cozy bungalows with minimal amenities however for the price it is great.

How many days is enough for Lombok?
It all depends on the activities that you plan on doing during your stay. However, I would recommend at least 7-9 days in Lombok due to the size of the island and the time it takes to get from one place to another. Also if you're planning on climbing Mount Rinjani this will take 2 days out of your itinerary.

For first-time visitors, I would recommend Kuta Lombok due to its vibrant atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and variety of accommodations suitable for all budgets. It's also a great spot for surfers or those looking to learn how to surf.

Renting a scooter is the most flexible and common way to explore Lombok. You can rent one for roughly 100,000-200,00 IDR per day, allowing you to visit remote beaches and attractions at your own pace. Make sure you have insurance before renting a scooter! For those not comfortable on two wheels, hiring a driver or using local taxis are good alternatives.
